Opportunity Description:

The Newfoundland Pony remains critically endangered even here in our province. The Newfoundland Pony Society is undertaking a large-scale effort to preserve the species by creating the Newfoundland Pony Heritage Park, a permanent home and breeding space where public visitors can experience and learn about the incredible animals on the Avalon. We need your help in this effort. Come join us Saturday for a rewarding day of fencing and prepping the pasture for the ponies. With the weather warming up there’s no better excuse to get outdoors! The day will be spent installing stakes in the ground and attaching rails. If you don’t have any experience with this sort of thing, don’t worry you can still help with painting the barn, etc. Date: Saturday, June 5, 2021 Time: 10:00 am – 3:00 pm Location: Meet in the parking lot of Pitcher’s Bakery at 9:30 a.m. 70 Main Road, New Harbour. The pasture is 10 mins away on the road to Hopeall Falls just past the power transmission lines. What to wear: Please bring work gloves. We will be working outside but please bring a mask. The ponies and us would really appreciate any help with this event, lunch and refreshments will be provided! There are many beautiful sights and experiences in the surrounding area, reward your day of hard work with a walk into Hopeall Waterfalls located just before the Pony Park, or a fun stop in Dildo after the event!
